Remember Who Did This: Property Taxes Rose More Than 9% in Two Years
I'm Shaun Rickard, candidate for Mayor, City of Pickering. Two years in a row, your property taxes went up — way up.
Your total bill has climbed more than nine percent in just two years. That's not normal. It's nearly double the rate of inflation. And it came from one office: Mayor Kevin Ashe proposed both budgets himself, under his strong mayor powers.

And he did it while families were already struggling. Across Durham Region, food bank visits are up 20 percent in a single year — over 300,000 visits. In the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, he raised your taxes anyway. Twice.

Here's my promise. On day one as Mayor, I'll order a cap on the City's portion of your property taxes — the part City Hall actually controls.

Pickering can't afford another round of this. On election day, remember who did this to you. I'm Shaun Rickard, and I'm asking for your vote on October 26th.
